Geometry and Group Theory

Seminar Artin groups

Bachelor and Master Seminar in the style of a reading course on Artin groups.

Dozentin: Petra Schwer

Content

Artin groups, also known as Artin–Tits groups or generalized braid groups, are a family of infinite discrete groups defined by simple presentations encoded in graphs.

This interesting class of groups, which is the subject of active up to date research, interpolates between free groups and free abelian groups.

This Seminar will meet Wednesdays from 9-11 to learn about Artin groups and discuss recent developments in this area.

**The first meeting is on October 15th in SR 4. **
